Well, no actually in the military the SM will never be done with 'schoolwork' and will forever have to study, whether it be for CDC's or for promotions.
When H got out of Tech School he was/is a 3 level and then when we got here to his first duty station (and after all the in-processing) he was told there are four volumes of CDC's for his job that he needs to complete before he can become a 5 level. He has one month to complete each one. He's been knocking them out pretty quickly and hopefully he can get BTZ (Below the zone) and rank up sooner.
He was also picked for a really short and close to home TDY, sort of as a privilege. And I get to go! Yay! (That's not the norm so don't think you can tag along on every TDY.) It's about 2 hours away from home and about a week long. It's for an Air Show, and everyone has said for the most part it's like a mini vacation. He was told it's normally given to level 5 and above as a reward, but he got picked! He's doing great here and I'm so proud of him.
