The spirit of Christmas?

20 December 2010

Working with the public during the holidays can be rough, as I'm sure many of you know. Though, working in retail is a whole different ball game. I understand it's the week before Christmas and you're stressing that you don't have all your gifts (which, by the way whose fault is that?) and I get you're mad that we don't have your shoe size anymore because the entire stock of shoes and boots have been $20 for a week and I understand the malls, roads and parking lots are crowded beyond belief, but what happened to the spirit of Christmas? I feel like Christmas has become fake. It's all about who got what and if your gift was better. On top of that.. people are down right hateful.

What happened to just being thankful for what you have? Like.. being alive? Having friends and family who love and support you (no matter how far away they are). This season has become a time to max out credit cards and take out loans and that's a shame.

I've been realizing lately how lucky blessed we really are. Everything from friends, family and the luxuries we indulge in. I wish people would stop and take a look around them. There is always some worse off. I wish people would stop and just be nice.. for no reason.
