First if you don't know, ESC = Enlisted Spouses Club. I don't quite know what I was expecting.. I guess maybe something from Army Wives? Haha! It was.. BORING! OMG. For the first hour or so no one really talked to me besides the few "Hi, my names is [insert name here], what does your husband do?". I felt completely out of place because I didn't have a few kids trailing behind me nor are we trying. I easily could have been the youngest one there... but there were actually a nice variety of ages. Most people lived on base.. which I'm sure if my husband was E5+ we'd consider it as well because they obviously get a better housing development. I have one more free meeting and then I start paying 'dues' of $3 a month. I guess I have another month to figure out if it's for me or not. Part of me wants to stick it out because it would be nice to know people around here, but on the other hand.. I'm not the one to get knocked up and carry a camo diaper bag to fit in either. I guess we'll see.
I've considered it but the only person even close to my age is the head of Ammo's wife but her hubby is an Officer so there goes that. I may not to ESC but I think once he commissions, I'd definitely do OSC.
I was VP of our ESC and now I'm membership. Meetings for us are the WORST time to welcome new or potential members because it's all business. I always recommend to people to come to our dinners or something else that we have or even to meet up with some ladies on our own time. My first meeting was a christmas party and hardly anyone spoke to me but I still had a good time and decided to join. And it turned out for the better. Did you meet anyone or see anyone you might like? maybe suggest coffee or something get to know them outside of "club mode"
