It's getting real

16 December 2010

Today one of the girls that is from Eric's shop and who was also deployed with him came home. It's the first homecoming I've been to on base. Believe it or not a lot of troops fly in and out of airports. Eric left from the airport, but we don't know where he'll fly into when he gets back. I have to say that the homecomings at the airport are awesome, but on base they are unbelievable. There are definitely more families and the 'onlookers' are other military members so they understand why people are a blubbering mess.

It made it REAL. Real that in X amount of days/weeks Eric will be home. I'll be riding in the truck out to the flight line to pick up my husband, or well waiting at the airport to see him get off the tram. I got so excited when I saw the girl that came in today so I can't imagine how it's going to be when Eric gets home. I'm just so excited that in X about of days/weeks he'll be home. He'll be home to go to the grocery store with me, to take the dog to the park and to just lay around with me.

I can't wait.

Cake in a Jar?!

16 October 2010

I'm sure you're thinking of those cute little homemade gifts people give that have all the ingredients layered in a jar to make a cake, or cookies or muffins. Good idea right? Awesome idea unless you're sending cake in a jar to a deployed loved one. How would they bake it? With the sun? HA! Anyway, Cake in a Jar is actually a cake baked in a mason jar that you seal and send with their favorite frosting! I made it and I tasted it after they came out and they were good! We'll see if they last all the way over there! Linky-poo

Do you notice

10 October 2010

That when you're H is deployed you become overly sensitive to everyday things? I mean, I'm an emotional person to begin with. Not crazy emotional where I cry at movies or cry when I hear someone has passed, but I would say I'm emotional. Now, with Eric gone I cry at everything. Someone hurts my feelings? I cry. I'm watching the ending of Grey's Anatomy Season 6? I cry. I get mad? I cry. I get sad? I cry. I feel like how I think pregnant people would feel. Emotional. I hope this goes away because I'm tired of wasting makeup!

It just hit me..

06 October 2010

It just hit me.. It just hit me that I'm going to be alone on Christmas. I've never been alone on Christmas.. or any holiday for that matter. I guess this is growing up.. right? And I guess this is what a military wife/family is all about.

I know it's my second post of the day.. get over it.

Everything I thought I'd do while he was gone..

Hasn't really happened yet. Granted, it's only been a month, but I had this fantasy of going to the gym everyday and eating right. Did that happen? Hell no it didn't. I've only been to the gym once and have been eating like crap. Part of me really wants to go to base and sign up for some classes and work out there, but I hate working out with a lot of people around. Though, the gym (if you can call it that) here at the apartment is tiny. So, I've really thought about joining Weight Watchers.

I think I can convince myself to get up and get to the gym everyday, at least just to do cardio, but it's really hard for me to know what's good and what's bad and how much to eat of what. So I think right now the point system would really help me. The only thing is it's $40 a month for the unlimited pass. It includes unlimited meetings and etools. It's hard for me to do it though because thats a lot of money to me. Hmm. I just don't know.

Deployment brain!

05 October 2010

I'm in shock. Not over him leaving, but how much this deployment took up in my mind. I am the one that does the bills in our family. It started when he left for BMT and it's always been that way. I say X is what we have left over after bills are paid and we make it work. We always have. I have NEVER missed a payment, even though not everything gets paid online. I always remember what we have to pay and when and how we go about doing it.
The only two things we don't pay online is his car (local credit union) and T-Mobile. Why we don't pay T-Mobile online? I have no idea. I have always gone into the store. Well we use the 15th check for the phone bill and I always make my way down to the store (and usually browse the mall) and pay it. Well last month.. I DIDN'T!!! I can't believe it. I was checking my mail today opened the bill from T-Mobile and noticed it was DOUBLE what it should be. It said "Late payment-due immediately". My mouth seriously fell open. I seriously cannot fathom how I forgot to pay the phone bill. I'm angry at myself and really embarrassed. I feel like this is my job as a wife and I failed. I know it's not a huge deal, but still.
We just got a surprise "hey you owe this much and it's 4x what you normally pay" because some idiotic credit card rep told us the wrong thing. So much for the extra deployment money this month.

Now I'm scared of what else I've forgot/will forget! :(

One day down 100+ to go

11 September 2010

Well, today definitely is a little better. It still sucks and I don't think it will set in until he actually gets there. I went over to some friends house last night which was nice to get out of the house. Today I'm going over and baking with one of the other wives in his shop. I still just feel.. down. Like I'm lost. I don't really feel like I know what I'm suppose to do yet. Now off to tmobile to 'freeze' his phone.

It finally came.

10 September 2010

Wow. I'm speechless and my mind is blank. It's done. I dropped him off at the airport this morning and he's gone. This day finally came. I knew it would, but just kept putting it off in my mind. He's really gone. I'm alone. I'm all alone in this city. This city that I know nothing about. I got so used to him being here. So used to him pushing every button I have just because he could. Now what do I do? This tiny 600 sq. ft. apartment seems so big. So big and empty even though it's full of stuff. I want a normal life again.

The leave date

02 September 2010

Makes it seem so real. In X amount of days he's gone. He's not there to kiss me when he leaves in the morning. He isn't there to text me throughout the day. He isn't there to push all my buttons. It's going to be a huge change. Will I get through it? Hell yes. Oh and the most awesome part about it? He leaves on his Birthday! Yup he gets a free trip to the desert. So in spite of the bad news yesterday we went out to treat ourselves last night. We went to CPK (California Pizza Kitchen) YUM! I took him to the Oakley store and told him we weren't leaving until he gets the glasses he's been oogling over for the past couple months, and I got my MAC Makeup! We still had a few errands to run (Sam's Club and Target) We found THE biggest camping chair ever at Sam's.

We then finished the night off with a Pumpkin Spice Latte!! Yum! I'm so glad it's back!
